08.10.2020 The new Building Energy Act (GEG 2020) comes into force on November 1, 2020, replacing the Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV), the Energy Saving Act (EnEG) and the Renewable Energies Heat Act (EEWärmeG).
The current EnEV basis for energy balancing for buildings is still valid until October 31, 2020. Buildings that submit the building application or building notification from November 1, 2020 must provide evidence of the energy performance certificate in accordance with the requirements of the GEG 2020. There are some changes to consider, here are some examples:
- The GEG refers to new standards, e.g. DIN 18599:2018 (Energy performance of buildings) and DIN 4108:2019 (Bbl. 2 Thermal bridges).
- DIN 4108-6 and DIN 4701-10 are still valid for uncooled residential buildings until 2023.
- The exception that building zones > 4 m with decentralized fan or radiant heating systems do not have to fall below the primary energy requirement by 25 % no longer applies. In future, this may require changes to the planning for halls > 4 m (e.g. warehouses or production halls).
The requirements, such as the 25% primary energy shortfall from the reference building and the obligation to use renewable energies for at least 15% of heating and cooling requirements, remain in place.
We are happy to support you in preparing energy balances and energy certificates in accordance with EnEV 2016 or GEG 2020.
