Building Material Scout is an official partner of the LEED Better Materials program

30.04.2020 Access to information about building products is a major challenge for many project teams. To make the search for better building materials easier, Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) includes leading global material platforms in its Better Materials Program. Since April 2020, Building Material Scout has been one of four platforms in this program.

Qualified product platforms drastically reduce the time spent searching for different materials. Building Material Scout is the only recognized platform that documents entire construction projects. This means that project teams know at all times which products are planned, approved and installed.

At the end, the client receives complete product documentation. At the same time, product inquiries are forwarded to the manufacturers, who can classify their product in terms of sustainability requirements using a simple assessment procedure.

This means that product manufacturers are always up to date with regard to all current building certification systems such as LEED, DGNB, BREEAM, WELL, BNB and many more.

“Better materials lead to better buildings and better lives!” is how the LEED certification body promotes its initiative. With the introduction of LEED v4 by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the requirements in the environmental categories “Materials and Resources” and “Low Emission Materials” underwent a significant change. The newly introduced concepts such as life cycle analysis, environmental product declarations and health product declarations (HPD) are intended to enable architects and planners to select better materials. This enables project teams to make informed decisions when selecting products and choose better building materials for their projects.
