05.03.2021 From July 2021, attractive grants of between 15% and 22.5% of the construction costs can be applied for for energy-efficient new construction projects (including non-residential buildings). For refurbishments, the grant amount is even 50%.
The new grants under the “Federal Subsidy for Efficient Buildings” (BEG) are not tied to loans, but are paid out after completion. As a rule, optimization of the building envelope and energy supply is required, whereby the additional costs incurred for this can be significantly lower than the grants. Construction work and the commissioning of construction services may not begin before the application is submitted, i.e. in July at the earliest. However, planning and consultancy services can be used before then.
The following subsidies (repayment subsidy for loans or directly paid out subsidy) can be applied for for the new construction of non-residential buildings:
New efficiency building | (Repayment) subsidy |
Efficiency building 40 | 20 % |
Efficiency building 40 Renewable energy class or sustainability class | 22,5 % |
Efficiency building 55 | 15 % |
Efficiency building 55 Renewable energy class or sustainability class | 17,5 % |
Efficiency building refurbishments | (Repayment) subsidy |
Efficiency building 40 | 45 % |
Efficiency building 40 Renewable energy class or sustainability class | 50 % |
Efficiency building 55 | 40 % |
Efficiency building 55 Renewable energy class or sustainability class | 45 % |
Efficiency building 70 | 35 % |
Efficiency building 70 Renewable energy class or sustainability class | 40 % |
Efficiency buildings 100 | 27,5 % |
Efficiency building 100 Renewable energy class or sustainability class | 32,5 % |
Efficiency building monument | 25 % |
Efficiency building listed building Renewable energy class or sustainability class | 30 % |
The maximum eligible costs for efficiency houses are EUR 30 million or EUR 2,000 perm2 of gross floor area. There are also attractive subsidies for the refurbishment of buildings to an efficiency house or individual measures on the building envelope or heating technology. The planning and construction supervision by an energy efficiency expert is subsidized by up to 50% (max. €20,000 or €10 perm2 GFA ).
Planning and consulting services for building physics supervision by an expert in energy efficiency from the list of the German Energy Agency (dena) can be provided before the application is submitted. The start of construction and commissioning/purchase contract may only take place after the application has been submitted.
We are happy to support you with KfW and BEG subsidies and prepare all applications and documentation for existing and new subsidy programs.
