Spatial Daylight Method (sDA300/50) for LEEDv5/v4.1 and WELL projects
Our daylight simulations according to the Annual Spatial Daylight Method enable an easy achievement of additional LEED and WELL points in most building projects.
LEED and WELL AP’s only exhaust the full potential in rare cases.

LEED v4.1 IEQ – Daylight – Option 1 Simulation: Spatial daylight autonomy and annual sunlight exposure (2-3 points, 1-2 points healthcare)
- The Spatial Daylight Autonomy (sDA300,50%) describes the quality of daylight utilization in the building and at the workplace.
The value determined indicates the percentage of the area that has more than 300 lux illuminance for at least 50% of the annual time of use (sDA300,50%). - This analysis demonstrates to what extent regularly occupied workspaces can be used without additional artificial lighting.
- Key factors for improving daylight utilization are shallow room depths, large glass surfaces and glasses with a high light transmission combined with a low heat input in summer.
- The Annual Sunlight Exposure (ASE1000,250) describes how much of an area is exposed to too much direct sunlight.
Excessive direct sunlight causes visual disorders due to glare and increases the cooling load.
For all regularly used surfaces with an ASE1000,250 higher than 10 %, it must be checked which measures have been put into practice to prevent glare. - We produce LEED compliant certificates and guarantee the recognition of our results by LEED and WELL.
- The assignment of LEED points depends on whether 55% or 75% of the area meet the requirement.
The points are assigned according to the following table:
LEED sDA300;50% (for regularly occupied floor area) | Points |
Achieved for >55% of the regularly used floor space | 2 |
Achieved for >75% of the regularly used floor space | 3 |
WELL Feature L05 Part 2 – Implement Enhanced Daylight Simulation (Max: 2 points)
- We prepare certificates in compliance with WELL.
We guarantee the recognition of our results by WELL certification bodies. - WELL points are assigned depending on whether 55% or 75% of the area meet the requirement.
The points are assigned according to the following table:
WELL sDA300;50% (for regularly occupied floor area) | Points |
Achieved for >55% of the regularly used floor space | 1 |
Achieved for >75% of the regularly used floor space | 2 |
