08.05.2023 Following the conclusion of the comment phase, the DGNB has now finalized the comprehensive revision of its certification system for new buildings.
Changes have been made in the following areas with system version 2023:
- Higher requirements with regard to future climate targets
- Better applicability by reducing the number of criteria
- Compatibility with assessment systems such as the EU taxonomy or the Quality Seal for Sustainable Buildings (QNG)
- Adjustment of the weighting of subject areas
- New minimum requirements for sustainability issues
The updated system is applicable for Educational buildings, office and administration buildings, commercial buildings, healthcare buildings, hotels, logistics properties, production facilities, shopping centers, consumer markets, places of assembly, residential buildings with more than six residential units and mixed-use buildings.
The 2023 version is intended to help construction managers, project developers, architects and planners to reduce CO2-emissions, implement a circular construction method and increase the quality of stay for users and create the greatest possible investment security.
If you would like to have your next project certified on the basis of version 2023, you can register from July 1, 2023. The corresponding tools will also be made available on July 1. For projects already registered, the system version valid at the time of registration will apply. However, it is possible to switch to the new version in consultation with the certification body. Projects can also still be registered for the 2018 version until the end of November. From December 1, 2023, registration will only be possible for the 2023 version.
