Sustainability class (NH class)
Funding opportunities and requirements for the sustainability class in the BEG
Kontaktieren Sie unsSustainability class of BEG funding
The sustainability class of the Federal Subsidy for Efficient Buildings (BEG) aims to reduce CO₂ emissions not only through energy-efficient heating and cooling, but also through sustainable building materials and resource-conserving production processes. Building owners and renovators benefit from better funding conditions if they meet the higher requirements.
For whom is the NH class relevant?
The sustainability class (NH class for short) is a recognized sustainability standard that is used in the federal funding programs for efficient buildings “Residential Buildings” (BEG WG) and“Climate-friendly New Buildings” (BEG Neubau).
Achieving the NH class in the refurbishment process or obtaining the Sustainable Building quality seal for a new building results in advantageous funding conditions.
Funding benefits and requirements
Sustainable buildings rely on environmentally friendly materials and a healthy living environment. If builders or renovators meet the requirements of the sustainability class, these buildings fall under the NH class and a loan of up to 150,000 euros per residential unit as well as higher repayment subsidies are possible – five percent for renovations, 2.5 percent for new builds. Combination with the renewable energy class is not possible.
Certification required
In order to benefit from the subsidy advantages, a sustainability certificate from an accredited certification body is required – for example DGNB certification, which confirms compliance with the Quality Seal for Sustainable Buildings (QNG).
