April 28, 2025 DGNB and BPIE publish study on the relevance and costs of life cycle assessment – the importance of the methodology continues to grow.
Together with the Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE), the DGNB has conducted a short study to create a data basis on the cost-benefit of building life cycle assessments. The study shows that the relevance of building life cycle assessments is increasing. Even though the calculation of life cycle assessments for new buildings will only become mandatory with the implementation of the EU Buildings Directive in 2028, it already offers important advantages: Investments in life cycle assessments are not only sustainable, but also make economic sense. They promote innovation and can create long-term cost savings. Building owners and investors also receive important information to help them make informed decisions that protect the environment and conserve resources.
With our many years of experience in the field of life cycle assessment, we have developed our online life cycle assessment tool LCA Online developed. LCA Online is the first recognized tool with an LCA-DGNB interface that transfers and checks the life cycle assessment data in real time and credits it accordingly for certification according to DGNB Version 2018 in the criterion *Life cycle assessment of the building*. This makes life cycle assessment even easier!
