Energy certificate for buildings (EnEV\/GEG certificates)<\/h2>\n

<\/div>\nAn energy performance certificate for buildings provides a transparent and comparable indication of their energy efficiency. When selling or renting a property, the presentation of an energy performance certificate is mandatory in accordance with EnEV or GEG. An energy certificate is also required for new buildings and renovations as proof of compliance with building regulations for planning permission. <\/p>\n

The EnEV or GEG certificate contains general data on the property, the energy sources used and the building’s energy parameters. The thermal insulation properties of the building envelope and the energy requirements for the entire building services – i.e. cooling, ventilation, lighting, hot water and heating – are calculated when the certificate is created. <\/p>\n

The result shows the energy efficiency and compliance with the requirements compared to a defined reference building on a color scale. This makes it possible to prove compliance with building regulations. If the energy performance certificate is issued for existing buildings without an energy upgrade due to sale or rental, it must still comply with the provisions of the Energy Saving Ordinance(EnEV<\/a>) 2014 until May 2021. After that, energy certificates will be issued in accordance with the requirements of the current Building Energy Act(GEG<\/a>) 2020, which replaces the EnEV. <\/p>\n

Energy performance certificates are generally valid for ten years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Consumption-oriented and demand-oriented energy performance certificate for buildings<\/h3>\n

A distinction is made between consumption-based and demand-based certificates. The consumption-oriented energy performance certificate shows how high the energy consumption of the property has been in the last three years. The result is based on real consumption data. For a demand-oriented energy performance certificate, the heating and the building fabric are taken into account and a result is calculated based on this, independent of usage behavior. The calculated characteristic values are given in kilowatt hours (kWh) per square meter (m2)<\/sup> of usable space – in short: kWh\/(m2a<\/sup>). The color scale facilitates classification. For example, the red range starts at 250 kilowatt hours per square meter per year (see above). For existing buildings, in addition to the calculated characteristic value, the EnEV or GEG certificate also includes suggestions for improving the energy efficiency of the building, although these are not mandatory. <\/p>\n

Building planning according to GEG<\/h3>\n

Since November 1, 2020, the Building Energy Act (GEG) has been the applicable energy-saving law. It replaces the Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV), the Energy Saving Act (EnEG) and the Renewable Energies Heat Act (EEW\u00e4rmeG). However, the previous requirements for insulation, renovation and retrofitting or replacement obligations remain in place. One new feature is the listing of CO2 emissions in the energy performance certificate. <\/p>\n

In addition to preparing an energy certificate for your building in accordance with current legal requirements, we support you in the planning, approval and execution of your project in accordance with EnEV and GEG and inform you about the new regulations in GEG 2020 compared to EnEV.<\/p>\n

Federal funding for efficiency buildings<\/h3>\n

By planning an energy-efficient building, you can not only proactively save costs, but also benefit from subsidies as part of the Federal Subsidy for Efficient Buildings<\/a> (BEG). For efficiency buildings, 15% of the costs can be subsidized. Efficiency buildings with an NH class, i.e. buildings that have been awarded the“Quality Seal for Sustainable Buildings<\/a>” (QNG) sustainability certificate, also qualify for an extra subsidy of 2.5%. <\/p>\n
